The Story Behind the Work

From food stamps and Medicaid
to keynote stages.

I graduated high school at 17. One month before starting college as an honor student, I learned I was pregnant. Two sons followed. Then, after fourteen years of marriage, I became a single mother.

I walked into the Department of Social Services and applied for food stamps and Medicaid to support my boys. That was the lowest point.

I made a decision. I was going to learn to tell my story.

One story earned me $52,000 in scholarships and grants. Three degrees followed, all earned debt-free while working full-time: an Associate's, a Bachelor's (Magna Cum Laude), and an MBA. In 2014 and 2015, I received five prestigious university awards and became a sought-after speaker representing the Office for Philanthropy and Women in Philanthropy and Leadership at Coastal Carolina University. First online MBA graduate. 3.9 GPA. Magna Cum Laude.

That story became the EPIC Communication Framework®. Fifteen years later, it has trained 3,500+ leaders and driven 1,037,000+ emails with a 78% open rate.

Andrew is now a superintendent for a large commercial construction company in Florida. Alex is a pilot in the United States Air Force. Every setback in this story was a stepping stone. That is the only framework worth teaching.
